About Ray
I started playing guitar at 7 years old. My old school stodgygy teacher at the time took me through the entire Mel Bay series. However, I quickly lost interest in what and how I was being taught so at 11 years old, I quit. The Beatles, Stones, Donovan and Dylan were raging then, and I wanted to play that kind of stuff!
I ventured forth on my own studying rock, classical, jazz, folk. I was later enamored by Zepplin, Yes, Jethro Tull, Robin Trower, etc. and all the Beatles later work as well as their solo careers.
I played in various bands and studio work over the many years while picking up keyboards and bass guitar along the way. Yep jack-of-all-trades, master of none. I was stale for years, I was tired of my limitations. Ten 10 years ago I decided enough is enough and wanted to be more than a good player, I wanted to be great. Inspired by the finger style acoustic guitat work of Lawrence Juber, Steve Howe, and Tommy Emmanual, I knuckled down and got to work.
One must understand that the guitar is a life long journey, I continue to walk down that path. Thanks to Keely Value, Hirosi Masuda, Assaf Levavy, Gabriella Quevedo, and Lawrence Juber for their example on what is possible..
The tunes I post are my personal legacy and posterity. They represent years and years and years of prctice and dedication.

My Unique Style
I like to say that I play songs on the acoustic guitar that shouldn't be played on acoustic guitar. I love the challenge. At 16 I taught myself to play Mood for a Day by Steve Howe, at 60, I learned the Clap also by Howe. Learning Penny lane and Elenor Rigby with moving counterpoint made me understand that I can learn anything with perseverance.
My Aspirations
Perhaps I will inspire others who wish to play in this style and that they may know that it is possible to do so with dedication. I am based in San Antonio, Texas, United States, and I hope my music inspires you!
